CAIEIRA TRAIL - WRECKED - 5 KM (ROUND WAY)

about the trail

Praia dos Naufragados, the southern end of Santa Catarina Island, is one of the best preserved due to its geographic isolation. A beautiful example of a beach inserted in the beach-forest-rivers-hills set, typical of the Atlantic Forest in southern Brazil. A beautiful 2.3 km trail - approximately 50 minutes - was originally a very busy path where there was a flour mill - that we can still see the ruins. We will have an ascent right at the beginning of the trail, and then we will descend until we cross a stream of clean water. We descend a little further to a flat and wide open area that will take us to the beach. Relatively easy. It requires, like any trail, a good dose of attention and some physical preparation.

On the beach, heading to the right, you reach a river and also the beginning of another trail that leads to the old Farol dos Naufragados. This trail is short and very pleasant, I will be happy to take you there. From the lighthouse, you have a beautiful view of the mainland beaches and the Forte de Nossa Senhora de Araçatuba (1742), located on a small island right in front. You can also, with luck, observe the movement of the dolphins that inhabit the small cove. The beach is just over 1 km long with a good stretch of sand, excellent for enjoying a sunny day. One or two restaurants will normally be open on weekends and holidays serving a basic fish and/or seafood meal.

IMPORTANT NOTE - it is usually possible to return by boat - a service offered by local fishermen. The tour is very pleasant and has a low cost.

It is important that each one talk about specific health problems - if they exist... - and also take with them the medicines that, by chance, they are taking.

To do any trail we need to be in good health. It is important to leave all worries behind and be 100% attentive on the way, very important to keep an eye on where you step. I'll always be at the front watching everything, but everyone's attention is really fundamental. Listening and respecting the guide's tips is very important. I am here to help and facilitate our trail. Respecting nature is also of fundamental importance. In this way, with respect and attention, we will have an unforgettable adventure.
